Team Rector   

The Reverend Canon Adrian Daffern    811415

The Reverend Canon Adrian Daffern was appointed Team Rector two years ago. He has served in three parishes in the Diocese of Lichfield as Curate, Team Vicar and Vicar; as a minor Canon of Lichfield Cathedral; and, between 2003 and 2010, a Residentiary Canon of Coventry Cathedral. He is legally incumbent of all five parishes, but takes principal pastoral responsibility for Bladon and Woodstock. He is married to Megan, who is Chaplain of Jesus College, Oxford.

We are seeking to appoint a new Team Vicar, hoping for someone who will join the team in the autumn. In the meantime, pastoral matters concerning Begbroke and Yarnton can be directed to Sister Anne (see below) or to Adrian.

The Reverend Brian Wood was ordained in 2007 as a non-stipendiary minister in the Blenheim Team. Recently retired from paid work as a lecturer at Oxford Brookes University, Brian acts as Minister-in-Charge of Shipton-on-Cherwell where he lives with his wife, Erica.

 

 

 

Team Curate

The Reverend Clare Hayns was ordained deacon last year, and will be ordained priest on June 24th. Serving her diaconal year as a part-time non-stipendiary minister, she will become full-time and stipendiary after her priesting. Working with Adrian as her training incumbent she also takes responsibility for ministry to children and young families. She is married to John, and they have three sons.

 

 

Associate Priest

The Reverend Dr Shaun Henson     813603

 

The Reverend Dr Shaun Henson was ordained in 2004 to serve his title in this Benefice. He has remained here to minister as an Associate Priest in addition to his work as Chaplain of St Hugh’s College, Oxford, and teaching in the University’s Faculty of Theology and Religion. As well as pastoral and liturgical ministry, Shaun has increasing responsibility for adult learning in the Team. He is married to Adina, an academic administrator.

The Reverend David Muston retired from full-time paid ministry in 1997. He and his wife Ros live in Bladon, and David assists in a variety of ways, preaching and presiding; he is also Chair of the Friends of Bladon Parish Church.

The Reverend Dr Stephen Pix retired from full-time paid ministry in 2001, but is an active member of the Team in a variety of ways, liturgical, pastoral and in teaching. When not leading worship or preaching elsewhere he worships at Bladon with his wife, Barbara.

 

 

 

 

Pastoral Assistant

Mrs Gail Ward is a Licensed Lay Minister (Reader) in the Diocese of Oxford, and is licensed to serve as Pastoral Assistant in Woodstock where she has a special responsibility for pastoral care to the elderly and vulnerable, and to the residential homes.

 

 

 

 

Associate Priests

The Reverend Sister Anne CSJB is a sister of the Community of St John the Baptist, and part of a community of sisters who have lived in Begbroke for many years. Anne is licensed to the Team with a particular pastoral role in Begbroke and Yarnton, and she has been especially active in Yarnton Primary School and Yarnton Care Home, as well as taking a lead role in the occasional offices in those villages.
