          Mission Aims & Goals
That Jesus may be known in our lives
Deepening the commitment and developing the maturity of each child of God by worship, prayer, and listening to God: -

  • Deepening and developing our worship
  • Making provision for song suggestions
  • Developing a main service that aims to reach the whole church community supported by different targeted and outreach services
  • Integrating the children into the main service more effectively
  •
Biblical and practical preaching and teaching: -

  • Co-ordinating our preaching, teaching and direction as a Church
  •
Encouraging each individual to discover and develop fully their unique spiritual and practical gifts and ministries and encouraging everyone to work with others in the body of Christ: -

  • Developing, through Cell Groups, mutually supportive, outward looking communities
  • Ensuring that Time and Talents Forms are followed up
  • Developing our ministry of Welcome and integrating new church attenders/members
  • Developing teams in all areas of the church’s life and ministry
  •
That Jesus may be known in our communities
Reaching out by providing good pastoral care for all who come to our church: -

  • Ensuring that all who come to our church will be known, accepted and valued
  • Reaching out to all those who have ceased to worship regularly at St Mary’s and yet still live locally
  •
Developing our provision of care for those with particular needs in the wider community: -

  • Developing the ministries into our community in which we are already involved, according to the vision, gifts and relationships that God gives to us as a church
  •
Providing stepping-stones to enable each person, of whatever age, to move nearer to Christ from wherever they are on their spiritual journey: -

  • Encouraging our ministry teams to develop stepping stone events, courses and groups
  •
That Jesus may be known in the wider world
Seeking a continuous transformation in our hearts and lives so that all in St Mary’s have a passionate concern for the lost and the suffering , express that concern in the way that we live, engage together in the establishment of God’s Kingdom of justice, mercy, and Christ-centred hope in the UK and across the world: -

  • Gearing our teaching, worship and prayer to develop such transformation
  • Ensuring that all in St Mary's become passionate about the issues of poverty and injustice that affect poor people and do something about it in their daily lives
  • Developing a strategy for giving that encourages awareness of and active involvement in mission
