JOINT BENEFICE SERVICE May 11 - 11:00 am at St. Mary's, Cogges "IT'S IN THE BOOK" - Resource giving information about Cogges Church In the summer we put up large sheets and we identified the churches many and varied activities. This is now being transferred artistically into a 'big book'. If you are part of a home group or pastorate, could you please take photos this month and prepare a list of your group members, and then I will give you a sheet to prepare a stimulating page about yourselves so that visitors (and we) can look at it. If you want ideas about displaying your page speak to Maria, Kirsty, Penny, Charlotte, Jacquie or Lynn who are ardent scrapbookers and could give you advice! Timescale ....I would like it finished by the end of May. Penny COLLECTING FOR CHRISTIAN AID May 11 is Global Poverty Sunday. May 11 - 18 is Christian Aid week. We do need collectors mainly for Madley Park area. We also need money counters. Envelopes will be available in church for people who wish to give and have no collection on their street. If you want to help, please contact Jackie Archer 706867 or the church office. CHURCHYARD MOWING Additional volunteers desperately needed to assist with the churchyard mowing. At present, the grass is only cut once a fortnight, and it's already looking a bit untidy. So, if you can spare say six hours between now and mid- November, please contact Ernie Gascoigne (tel: 771567). BESOM IN WITNEY The Besom team has had contact with some very needy and vulnerable people recently. We have been able to deliver essential items such as a fridge to a young man in need and have supported a single mother with a very young baby as she set up home. There has also been a request for food for an elderly gentleman who has severe financial difficulties and is facing eviction. The Besom team meets monthly to pray, plan and update each other on what has been happening through Besom. The next meeting is Friday 9th May at 9.30am at 1 Schofield Gdns. Everyone is welcome to join us. Tel Judith 779021 or email besom@coggesparish.com LEARN CANOEING SKILLS Jon Cox (A+) will be assessing canoe instructors from another Christian outdoor centre at Radcot, near Bampton on Monday 28th April. There is an opportunity for anyone who would like to learn some canoeing skills to join us free of charge from 10.15am - 12.30pm. Their brief - is to give you a safe and fun time on the river :-) If you'd like to join us or know anyone else who might like to join us - please contact Jon by text.
