It might be helpful for some people to do background reading or even their own study alongside the talks. Small groups are also thinking of studying these topics in their time together. Because of this, I have laid out a small table of books and commentaries about Revelation from St Andrew's..... on sale or return. Please speak to me (Penny) if you would like to purchase a book, or if you can suggest a helpful book to get in to add to the table. Please make cheques for purchases payable to St Andrews bookshop and give directly to me. Thank you. - Penny COFFEE AND CROISSANTS AFTER 8 A.M. SERVICE We will be serving the usual coffee, rolls and fruit in the Church Centre after 8 a.m. Communion, Sunday 4 May. Do please join us after the service before making your way home. As always, no charge, but donations will go to the Church Reordering Fund. APPEAL UPDATE We continue to send letters and our appeal brochures to a range of companies and trusts and recently received ?500 from the Mr and Mrs JA Pye Charitable Settlement. This is a charity we first approached in October through knowing one of the trustees. This illustrates the length of time it takes with some charities and how important it is to be able to contact a trustee. Please continue to support Janet Leach and myself as we research more charities to approach and continue to think and pray on who you may know who is either a trustee or who may know a trustee. Please take and distribute copies of the '20 First Century Challenge' which can be found by the door or contact me with ideas and names of possible leads. NEWS FROM JAMES HOWSON James thanks people for their cards and prayers following his heart attack in December. His family list is in Kiev, so it is difficult to respond individually. James had problems with a further blockage in February but is now making a good recovery. He will be looking for a part-time post in this country in due course LIVING FAITH - A VISION FOR EVANGELISM A day conference in Oxford on Saturday June 7 * for all those who long to see people come to faith and develop as disciples * to encourage, inspire and equip * offering a range of resources for the future Cost ?15. LAST DATE FOR INCLUSION 05.05.08 SPONSORSHIP On 22nd June, I'm taking part in a sponsored bike ride in aid of The Anthony Nolan Trust - an organisation that finds bone marrow matches for patients with leukaemia. In an impulsive moment, I put myself down for the 65 mile route that goes from Blenheim Palace to Stow-on- the Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water and then back again! I've never cycled this part before, so it should be a challenge to say the least. If you'd like to sponsor me, then please get in touch. Ernie Gascoigne (tel: 771567). COLLECTING - CHRISTIAN AID May 11 is Global Poverty Sunday. May 11 - 18 is Christian Aid week. We do need collectors (mainly for Madley Park area) and money counters. Envelopes will be available in church for people who live in areas where there is no street collection. If you want to help, please contact Jackie Archer 706867 or the church office. BESOM IN WITNEY The Besom team has had contact with some very needy and vulnerable people recently. We have been able to deliver essential items such as a fridge to a young man in need and have supported a single mother with a very young baby as she set up home. There has also been a request for food for an elderly gentleman who has severe financial difficulties and is facing eviction. The Besom team meets monthly to pray, plan and update each other on what has been happening through Besom. The next meeting is Friday 9th May at 2 2
