BAPTISM

Through baptism, or 'christening' as it is sometimes called, you, or your child, can become a part of the church family. Baptism is a joyful occasion and the church looks forward to celebrating with you. It is also a serious occasion when promises are made before God and we would like to help you to understand these promises so that your celebration can be meaningful.

How to find out about baptism
First of all, you will need to contact our church office (tel:771479). You will then be put in touch with a member of the church who will arrange to visit you in your home. We will explain a little of how baptism is conducted at St John's and answer your questions. We will also give you something to read about the meaning of baptism and the baptism service.

Coming to visit
If you are new to the church, we hope that you will accept our invitation to attend a few services and experience worship with us. This will also help you become familiar with the church building and meet church members. When you come, we can arrange for one of us to meet you and help you feel at home. Children are welcome in the service, or they may prefer to join in with our Sunday School or crèche.

WEDDINGS

We are always happy to hold your marriage service in the church provided one of you lives in the village.  Please contact the church office (Tel: 01235 771479) to arrange a suitable date.  A marriage preparation day is held each March for all those getting married that year and we encourage everyone to attend - couples on previous years have found it both enjoyable and helpful.   Banns of marriage are normally read on the first three Sundays in the month prior to your wedding - if one of you lives elsewhere the banns must be read there also.

FUNERALS

The death of a loved one is a time when we need the support of others and many people turn to the church.  We are seek to be available to give care at the time of bereavement to all who live in Grove.  If you would like help at this time, one of our clergy will be able to offer you support and can help you to plan the service either in the church or the crematorium.  For further information please contact the church office (tel: 01235 771479).
Grove has a Cemetery on Denchworth Road.
