ST JOHN'S TODDLERS
St John’s Toddlers is a Christian Toddler group which caters for children in the 0-3 year age range. Children over three are welcome, providing we have spaces available. Toddlers is run entirely by volunteers from the various churches in Grove.
We meet on Monday and Wednesday mornings during school term time, from 9.15am until approximately 11.15am. The sessions are very informal, with a bible story, followed by juice and biscuit for the children (tea, coffee and cakes for the parents!). There is also an activity to do which is connected to the story, and lots of time for free play. We also celebrate the children’s birthdays with a card and a song. Each week, both sessions of Toddlers will have the same story and activity, so families are welcome to come for just one session or both. The fees are currently £1 per family, per session.
Each term we donate at least 10% of our income to charity, usually to a charity which is involved with children. Recently we have supported the appeal for the new children's hospital in Oxford.
We produce a newsletter each term giving information about Toddlers, and also about the church services in St Johns. We try to involve the families in the major “child-friendly” services and organise the crib service - the children get to dress up and be in the Nativity Story – this have proved to be very popular! We also hold Bring and Share lunches once a term, which gives parents the chance to collect older children from pre-schools and bring them back for lunch. This gives us all more time to socialise, and the children have more time to play.
As Toddlers is run by volunteers, any help from members of the Church would be very gratefully received. Could you spare a couple of hours once a term to help make coffee? Can you tell a bible story to a group of 2 year olds? We would be very appreciative of any offer of help at all. Toddlers is a great way of reaching out into the community of Grove, and spreading God’s word to families with no other Christian input in their lives. Can you help us to continue this work?
