The whole book reminds us that whatever 'journey' we are making, in our own lives, our spirituality, our following of Jesus, and our work for his kingdom, his spirit will guide us too, and make us fruitful in his service." CHRISTIAN CONCERN FOR ONE WORLD: Forthcoming events
Maranda sends us a reminder of two upcoming events with approaching deadlines:
  • The Big Brew: We've already had some wonderful Big Brews register -- everything from jazz concerts and 12-hour sponsored musical events to parish refreshments to the intriguingly named "Any Brew Will Do". Registration is easy. Please do encourage your church/Mothers Union/home group/community group/local school to get involved! Registration forms should be sent by 16 January; publicity packs with posters and other materials (and Traidcraft refreshment packs, if ordered) will be mailed to those registered shortly thereafter.
  • Green Faith Day, 17th Jan On 17 January, at Tilehurst Methodist Church, Christians from around our area are gathering to reflect on our responsibility as stewards of God's creation. What should we actually be doing? There's a super panel, and lots of workshops, sessions on organic food, gardening, the impacts of climate change in developing countries, a chance to receive help from energy efficiency consultants, and time for churches involved with or interested in Eco-Congregations to share their journey. Do join us! Registration materials for that are also attached.
  • Faith and Food Day, 28th Feb -- an occasion to be practical about spirituality and spiritual about food. How do we make connections between our food and our faith? How can we feed the world without destroying our planet? Why are so many people getting fatter when so many other people are going hungry? Keynote speakers, workshops on farming, fair trade, food and climate justice, food poverty, bread making and more. Cost £10.00 or 7.50 to include lunch.

See the event listing on the CCOW website for booking forms.

Looking Ahead

GLEBE HOUSE SERVICE 1st Feb
It will be our turn to lead the above Service on Sunday, February 1st at 3pm. I have given plenty of notice this time so I hope it will be better supported! It will be very short (less than half-an-hour) so I hope some of you can spare a little time to come and join in the hymns or read a lesson/prayer/play an instrument etc. I am open to suggestions if anyone has any ideas.
