| Moulsoe parish church began with a chancel and nave in the twelfth century, to which north and south aisles were added in the thirteenth. During the fourteenth century, the aisles were rebuilt and the west tower and south porch were added. The clerestory dates from the seventeenth century. Of particular interest are medieval brass figures of a knight and his lady in the north aisle, a fourteenth-century octagonal font stem, and fragments of a fifteenth-century screen incorporated into the modern chancel screen. Many of the pews in the nave date from the seventeenth century, as do an oak poor-box, some coffin-stools, and a bier dated 1651. Moulsoe parish church is the burial place of the Carrington family, with monuments in both the church and the churchyard. Extensive restoration work was carried out during the 1990s. |
