Financial Support for St. Michaels

St Michael’s Church is run largely by volunteers. However, considerable financial resources are needed to run and maintain our buildings, and to pay for materials used in worship and other activities and the salaries of our office staff and musicians. About half of our expenditure goes to the Diocese of Oxford. This pays for the Rector’s stipend, pension and housing, the training of lay people and clergy, and consultancy provided free of charge by Diocesan Officers, as well as supporting the wider mission of the Church. No money comes from the wider church or the State.

Giving

We believe that Christian giving is a normal and proper response to God’s generosity to us, shown in the blessings we have received as individuals and in the gift of God’s own Son for our salvation. Church members are encouraged to give a proportion of their income back to God, on a regular basis, to support Christian mission, the relief of suffering and the work of their local church.
